The poor rich!

Prosperity is in the air. The numbers of luxury cars and foreign vacations are really impressive. Indians are finally living it up. The glittering mobiles and jewels are adding a lot of glamour to the cosmopolitan Indians.

Is it? We are, in my view, moving up the ladder as defined by Maslow's need theory but in the process losing out on the basics. So in short we are building skyscrapers on swampy lands. Ready to collapse anytime

Sorry for being so pessimistic. Most readers of this article are beyond the basic needs of food , clothing and shelter and have started their journeys on the bigger things.

But, look at the mass urbanisation leading to shrinking farmlands. Look at the falling water tables. Look at the quality of air we are breathing. We need to understand that money is good for nothing if in exchange for it we can't get what we desire. So while we might be increasing our net worth on paper but later we may have to consume only those papers to survive.

It's an alarming situation. Our whole existence on this planet is at threat. The ugly scars left by mankind on this planet is now becoming too much for our superficial makeups to hide.

If we want to live on this planet, we either have to escape the planet as Stephen hawkings suggests or we have to start investing in the foundations of life - the basics and stop mindless modernisation and consumption. May be then we can enjoy this earth for another thousand years....

The views expressed in the article are my own. They are not in anyway associated with my present or past employers.

Humanity is lost!

We lost ourselves when our quest was overtaken by greed. First, we wanted to learn - the earth, the oceans, the skies and then we wanted to own them. We invented toys of mass pleasure and mass pain. We got religion and creed. And we got lost in all these. We stopped being the wanderers who wanted to cherish nature. Enjoy it's gifts.  We started challenging the almighty the creator. We lost. We are dying as a race. Dying with the burden of civilization that offers only stress and agony of loans. Sitting in one position we are destroying our body the greatest gift of nature. We don't deserve to be called the smartest of all species. We are the most idiotic of all. We are dumb. AI is taking over. We will be lost in machines soon. They are our future. We cease to be us soon. God bless us!

Oblivious to oblivion

We humans are getting more and more engrossed in things that don't matter and replacing it with things that do matter. We keep track of every new I phone model but we have lost track of the losing greenbelt and nature. We are killing everything that is keeping us alive. But we are happy to live now selling our tomorrow's.  It's a sad state of affairs. We are looking externally for things which are within us. And things which are external and unnecessary we are taking it internally - like peer pressure and loud lifestyles. Where is the sense? Where is the moral compass that controls our actions? Wake up humanity...before we are erased from this planet. We need the planet the planet doesn't need us. Let's not forget that, ever.

Nature calling!

There is a tiny little compass within us, our conscience, the keeps giving us signals. There are times when it keeps warning us of the dangers of the city life we are living. It gives us hint of being at home when we are in the middle of nature. We are all like tiny parts of the nature we are so foolishly moving away from. And that's why we feel so much at home when we go to these places. We are parts of them - the air, the water, the soil, the fire that makes us us. Not the iphones and fancy toys we are so attached to these days. Let's make it a point to live closer to nature. To breathe pure air. To drink water unadulterated by modernism. To think thoughts that are pure and in tandem with the cosmos. There is a monk within us. Why do we hide him? Why do we not listen to him? We must. Before it's too late!
