The winter's afternoon

It's dark and cold The blankets keep me warm The mind plays the shadows of light and dark With the memories of the dark cold caves lived many births before I can see the sun shy away Like a moody cancerian having one of his crabby days The moon is lurking quietly behind in the sky Waiting for the Sun to make way I suddenly come back to the present Reminded of the craving inside me I diagnose as my tea thirst I wake up and drink my tea quietly Munching biscuits dipped in the cup I head to the hall and clumsily look for the TV remote Surf through #Netflix looking for some relief for my wandering mind I'm engaged for a few hours And then the restlessness returns My mind wanders back to the old cold caves Where I remember huddling with my half tamed pets - the wolves I use to hunt My digestive juices begin to flow I head to the kitchen and switch on the microwave to feast on the leftovers of a late lunch I'm full and sleepy again My senses are dulled into f

Friends and enemies

Sometimes I feel it is better to proactively look for enemies People who will hurt you People who will torture your soul People who will tear you down And if amongst them, you find some one different, someone who doesn't want to hurt you but is tired of this cycle of hate and hatred It may pleasantly surprise you And you may suddenly realise that Someone you thought as enemy is your friend Trust me friends it is always better this way Better than looking for friends and ending up making enemies who sweetly stab you behind your back This new year, therefore, actively look for enemies for life Who knows you might find a friend forever Happy 2019 in anticipation

The little plank of hope

Sometimes the world is a bitch Everyone seems to conspire against you The wind, the sun, the moon the earth Even your own heart and mind gives up on you But take a deep breath and hold on Don't give up on the little plank of hope you are holding on to It will see you through The sun will smile again The breeze will cool you down again The moon will seduce once again with its waxing and waning The mind will come around and kiss you with the joys you have been through The heart will overwhelm you with passion and joy But I still maintain that life is a bitch It tempts you with pleasures that cause you pain Leaving you in the whirlpool of emotions that's too difficult for the tiny plank of hope to deal with But don't worry the tiny plank of hope is magical It can hold your weight and the weight of your troubles Through all the turbulence around You have been strong and you have won Both feeding your heart and the mind Your time will come soon The waves of

Spirits

There must be a reason why we call liquor spirits What I feel is that liquor is like a torchlight It lights up the inner lacunae in your minds Taking you to labyrinths you don't remember existed in this life Almost feeling like you have gone back in time To a life where you were someone else With someone else sharing a whole different world Sometimes that feeling brings back spirits in your life from lives you thought never existed Brings memories and visions you felt don't exist but they come alive Like magic People come closer move further depending on the chemistry inside the brain The liquor induced hallucinations make you see things you want to see and may be you don't Cook up desires you refuse to acknowledge or confront Brings you a sense of peace you thought possible only on heaven or awaken the demons from the secret chambers in your mind Face it. Live it. Forget it. Remember it. Just drink the cups and feel the nirvana Hear the voice of your subcon

Raazi - the movie

I have always respected the military. I love the soldiers who sacrifice their lives for the country. This movie is a tribute to those great souls who achieve greats feats at the cost of their lives and then just fade away. The film is about a young girl who chooses to become a spy as she puts the safety of the country before everything else. Gets married to the son of a senior military officer from Pakistan. And spies secrets out of her in-laws place. She risks her life every moment, becomes a murderer and still manages to share information that saves the country. A beautiful film by Meghna Gulzar. Aaliya Bhat rocks and all the other actors make this film so real. A big congratulations to the team Raazi. Jai Hind.

Vodka diaries

It is true that nothing is real. Everything that we perceive as real is just what we perceive through the signals received from our five senses. That is reality for us. It is so easy to tweak those impulses and it changes our reality. It can change our thoughts, our feelings and over a period of time - us. The movie is about that. The reality through the eyes of an ACP who is madly in love with his wife and finds time inspite of his hectic schedule to indulge with her poetry and her. It's a beautiful feeling till a few murders rock the boat. Then when he calls his wife one day hears someone else. Someone whom he considers as the killer. And then, his fight begins and he eventually loses his grip on the case and himself....only to rediscover his true self. Brilliant brilliant thriller. A must watch. So glad I could see it. A big thank you to the entire team of vodka diaries for making such a beautiful movie.

Are we humans doomed from the start?

Indian mythology talks of three Gods - Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Brahma the God of creation, Vishnu the God of sustenance and Shiva the lord of destruction. It is said that we are now in the Kali Yuga where the lord will destroy the world and the world will again begin from nothing. Humans are actually quite recent phenomenon. The world existed billions of years before humans. We, humans are around 13000 years old on earth and that's like a blink in the lifetime of earth. Are we the messengers of Shiva? The lord of destruction? Born to destroy the world and create it from the beginning? We have consistently destroyed the surroundings. We are responsible for the disappearance of so many species from this world. We are polluting the atmosphere. We are killing the oceans. We are on the verge of melting the polar caps. Hell, we are on the verge of killing ourselves as some Harakiri where we are creating robots which will ultimately directly indirectly willingly unwillingly eliminate

The 3Cs for getting good public amenities in #India

India is a huge country and the saying that 'crying baby gets the milk' is absolutely apt for the country when it comes to getting good public service. The 3Cs for getting good public service in this country are : Complain, Criticize and Chorus. Now what do I mean by these? Complain: Every government office has an email id and social media handle. Continuously write to them till your issue is resolved. Repetition is the key here as it is difficult to catch their attention and to get your problem top of mind. Criticize: in India, it is assumed that what you are getting is the best you can get. So it will be good if you can show some examples from other countries and compare Apple to Apple. It may shame the bodies into action. Chorus: India is a democracy. Here only numbers matter. So gather as many people who share your pain and together approach the social media and cry your hearts out. Chances are you might just be able to reach the right ears and manage a workable solutio

5 reasons why India lags in tourism

Recently, I chose to travel twice by public transport. Once from Delhi to Bhopal by Rajdhani and second time from Delhi to Mcleodganj by Volvo from the notorious ISBT. When I reached Nizamuddin for my train to Bhopal, I felt I was part of a herd. No sitting space, dirty station, people have no choice but to stand or sit on filth. The other experience was no better. The enquiry counter had one old stooge who wore the expression of being Mr knowall but in reality was an idiot who had no clue. The whole place is chaotic and everyone tries to fleece some money out of you as if you are some sacrificial lamb waiting to be slaughtered. The food is sub standard and expensive and served with an attitude that you are being obliged. The bus service was no better. Till the last ten minutes I was kept waiting for your bus number. If you miss it it's your problem. How can we make things better so that tourists really feel incredible travelling in India? Here are the 5 things we must do immed

Beautiful nature

Can there be anything more beautiful than the clear blue skies with the white cotton like clouds drifting through Can there be anything more soothing that the large tress in a forest on whom the birds sing freely Can there be anything more calming than the river stream flowing gently reflecting the moon on its waters Can there be anything more intoxicating than the raindrops pouring over your roof in a rhythm of its own I feel our senses were created to love and appreciate nature To admire the beauty of the colours in the flowers and the butterflies To relish the taste of the freshest fruits and the sweetest honey To feast our eyes with the rising sun and the beauty of the moonlit nights Let's not waste our lives running after man made toys That make us old, greedy and weak Let's head back to nature in droves To the world we come from before we created our own hell's It's still not late To handover our future to fate We might still be able to get back peac

The era of mindless consumption

Greed is good seems to be the mantra today. And the ecommerce sites promoting this consumption massacre are not complaining. One of the leading American sites had its founding chairman dominating world news as the richest man alive. Super! But the billion dollar question is can this madness be sustained? If I was Elon Musk i would say ofcourse cause we are all headed to Mars. I am a big fan of Musk. But I am quite conservative when it comes to a future fuelled by mindless consumption. We already have data that shows we need 1.5 earth to feed and sustain the present population. And instead of slowing down we are speeding up consumption! I saw a Ted video that showcased how China's huge online population is consuming like there is no tomorrow and it is becoming some kind of a model for other countries as they too seem to be catching up. It is quite frightening to say the least. We must consume what we need and not all that our heart desires. This will not just increase the dispa
